'Copycat' websites drive rise in fake products.

Copycat websites and fake product news has been hitting the headlines over the last few weeks.

Trading Standards officers are reporting a sharp rise in the number of copycat websites selling fake branded goods over the Internet. A trading standards officer commented "Anything that you can sell, you can now copy."

Autodesk and other graphics applications that Computer Aided Business Systems sell are not immune to this practice. There are numerous sites offering software at discounted prices. They often use images, logo's and text from the manufacturers website to appear genuine.

If an advertised price is too good to be true, then make sure you investigate the product that you are purchasing. Autodesk have strict rules regarding grey selling (purchasing goods from outside the EU), and you may end up spending £1000's on a product that isn't genuine, and you will not receive an authorisation code to use it.

Autodesk provides a list of genuine resellers on their UK website. Computer Aided Business Systems are included in this list as authentic resellers.

Autodesk Release the 2011 Portfolio

Today (25th March 2010), Autodesk will begin to release the 2011 range of products.

Autodesk Subscription customers will receive an email direct from Autodesk informing when an applicable download is available via the Autodesk Subscription portal. The default for ALL Autodesk software delivery is via download.

If you wish to receive a 'boxed' version of your Autodesk product, update the default settings within the Autodesk Subscription portal (the Autodesk Subscription manager can only perform this task)

Following the successful launch of CostXL, Exactal is now offering a free trial to all clients with CostX under a maintenance agreement.

CostXL allows users to have full access to their CostX data within Microsoft Excel, which is connected directly to the CostX database. As you are probably fully aware Autodesk will soon be launching exciting new 2010 versions of its software solutions. The upcoming introduction of these new versions will mean that once again Autodesk will be delivering enhanced productivity and greater competitive edge to their software users.

Due to the falling value of the pound against other currencies around the world, Autodesk will be raising the UK price of all products and subscription packages. To reduce the impact on customers Autodesk have restricted the price increase to the region of 5% across all solutions. These increases have also been held back until 1^st May 2009, to enable customers to review budgets and order in advance if appropriate.

Autodesk Announce the AutoCAD 2010 Portfolio

Autodesk have announced that their AutoCAD 2010 product portfolio will be released from March 24th 2009 onwards.

Autodesk Subscription customers will have the opportunity to download the 2010 products (log-in to the Subscription portal for further details).

Computer Aided Business Systems will be posting further informaiton for the AutoCAD 2010 products on the news page, and our website will be updated prior to the AutoCAD 2010 launch.

Until the launch of AutoCAD 2010, we will continue to supply AutoCAD 2009 products. We recommend that you purchase Autodesk Subscription when purchasing new or upgrade products, in order for you to recieve 2010 as soon as it's available.
